newsflash, new biz

It's finally time I tell you... I started a biznass. I've been working on Jennifer Risk Interiors for a while... ya know, behind the scenes, making everything look aight. But now that it's out in the open, I can be like YAY I'M SO EXCITED.

Jennifer Risk Interiors is my own version of interior design. It's interiors with a twist. My philosophy is simple. When you walk in your front door you should absolutely love what you see. You should love every ounce of it. The details should sing to you. You should get excited about your umbrella stand. You should catch yourself standing in the middle of your living room starting at your bookcase because you love it so much. It flows, it functions, and you love it. That's the kind of love that I can help you attain. And I believe this is attainable on any kind of budget.

DIY Standing Parsons Desk

Super easy.

A parsons style desk is ridiculously simple to build because everything is square and symmetrical.

You need:

4 4x4s for legs - mine are 58 inches high. 

1 inch thick plywood - mine is cut 20'x54'. 

3 inch wide flat trim to go around. 

Brass bracket hardware.

Home Depot will cut all your wood for you for free. 

Screw the top to the legs and trim the sides. Then paint! I used rustoleum oil based protective enamel in gloss white. The best!

Baskets are from Home Goods. Totally a Serena and Lily rip off. Eeey!

The before is just ew. But it's what happens when you want a standing desk NOW because you just read an article that said sitting will slowly kill you.

Summer velvet

I've been daydreaming about recovering our headboard in plush velvet, which seems insane because when I got in my car this morning the temperature reading was 113 degrees. 

It reminded me of this photo from 2012 when Robert Passal, one of my favorite designers, designed this for the Hampton Designer Showroom... in 2012. How's that for a run-on sentence. It's hot leave me alone.

Our attic does not look like this... yet..

But hopefully it will soon!  I've started gathering ideas for out attic re-do. We are turning it into a playroom for cute baby, and a few years down the road, we will use it as the master bedroom.

I just love all the pinks, soft metallics, and pops of white.

Framing baby art

Look at those baby finger prints! I had to hold back from biting them... she is the most delicious thing in the world.

I used washi tape for the "matting" and an old frame I had.
