apparently I wasn't the only one with this idea..

pinterest is a great place to figure out that like, 500 people had the same idea as you. Some of these ideas rock way harder than what I had originally pictured, so.. It's a great source for inspiration. if you aren't already on pinterest, you should join and pin pin pin. but you probably are. so nevermind. if you're not, ask me for an invite. I might give you one.

I am referring to the expedit bookshelves from ikea

So a couple things.

sorry about the lack of postage up here. You might care, you might not, but I think the fact that my last post was about cats riding roombas deserves some sort of apology.
Second, take a looksie at your www bar up top where you write things like "google" and "how do i steam an artichoke"..... DAS RIGHT it says BELLADWELLA.COM. I bought it.. a little merry christmas to myself.

now onto the things that matter. we are seriously definitely finally working on our living room.. and I think this might just be the first thing to happen.

how genius is this??

Lilly Pulitzer Ocean TV Cabinet

First of all, I am obsessed with you, Lilly Pulitzer Ocean TV Cabinet, but I cannot afford you, and even if I could I wouldn't buy you. Cause I'm cheap. So Imma make you.

That being said... the idea at first was pretty far-fetched considering this is what I started with..

You're Horribleness...

no back

and in general: gross.

Also, the biggest hurdle was the doors. I wanted to copy the LP cabinet's doors but how??

SAWS. Awful. I hate sawing I think it's scary and I am bad at it. I'm bad at even holding whatever someone else is cutting it because I think they're going to saw my fingers off. So this part of the project was awful.

Now sand. These are the best for sanding. They are spongy and get in all the crevices.

Primed, still backless.

When you get sick of painting you can make earrings.

WELL HEY THERE RAZZLE DAZZLE BY BENJAMIN MOORE.

Also, the back was really easy to do. I took the measurements of the back of the cabinet to home depot, and after picking out a $7 piece of particle board they just cut it for your on their fancy machine.

Drum roll please..

This is what we were replacing (which is now our fab dry bar)

DIYoslef beaded chandelier

Who knew there's a website completely devoted to dollar store crafts. Newsflash, there is. It's called Dollar Store Crafts. And Heather, who posted this idea, is a friggin genius.

She crafted this chandelier from party beads and wire baskets.

Using thin wire, she strung the part-ay beads around the basket form.

Then a little paint....

Ummmmmmmmm.... O'verlays.

This might just be the best thing ever.
Snapshot 2011-07-06 08-21-11

My blogger buddy Danielle found these "O'verlays" online and I am obsessed.

Actually obsessed isn't even the word. But whatever.

The two women that started O'verlays began by redoing these Ikea Pax dressers:

and they turned them into this using mirror panels and O'verlays:

and another one:

I thought it couldn't get any better. THEN I SAW THE PRICE

Madeline Weinrib's Buche Rug costs $1050

and that is too much.
Snapshot 2011-07-02 09-29-39

But this copy cat bad boy is only $299 (naughty Ikea!)
Snapshot 2011-07-02 09-38-12

Both rugs are priced at 8X11 (which has 5 panels instead of 3).

and also, after staring at this picture for hours, it's starting to look like a photo out of a CSI episode. The dead body is to the left on the Ektorp.
