Reupholster Me: Carmeon of Nubi Interiors

in the first installment of a segment we're calling "reupholster me," I asked my super talented friend and interior designer Carmeon of Nubi Interiors, the burning question.

"If you could be reupholstered in any fabric which would you chose?"

Her response? So thoughtful and right on.

"If I would be reupholstered in any fabric, that fabric would be a rich navy blue velvet.

Here's why: Navy blue velvet looks amazing in any application, from sofas, chairs and benches to headboards, pillows, you name it! I haven't come across a navy blue velvet that I didn't completely fall in love with.

First of all, navy blue is my all time favorite color. That will never change. Ever. As a designer and fashion addict, my personal style can not be pigeon holed into a specific genre; and neither can navy blue. It's considered traditional, but in recent years has made a modern resurgence. It's sophisticated, but plays so nicely with the eclectic. It's classic, but also just as trendy...and so am I.

Now the velvet...the velvet is just so lush and rich and soft and comfy. It just makes you feel good! You want to wrap up in it and have it be your best friend. I think I have that effect on people. I'm pretty friendly and every where I go, someone wants to rub me. Well, my hair. I'm, also, a very emotional person and I wear my heart on my sleeve. So, just like velvet, you can always tell when I've been rubbed the wrong way. Hehe ; )

So, what do you think? How would I look?"

GIRL, I think you'd look amazing!

Side note: I too lusted after a blue velvet sofa for ages and finally bought one. Best decision we ever made.

really feeling this whole antelope rug thing

It took a while but I'm caving in and totally falling in love with antelope rugs. I do think there's a time and a place, but if the stars align this rug could be a fabulous addition to your home.

I'm planning on using this rug as a runner up to our 2nd floor. The floors and walls will be painted high gloss white so I think it'll look tres chic yes?

I love the lighter colorway and when the white is the center line, not the brown. It's like a bright bursting antelope running up your stairs.

sorry for partying

well the lack of blogging lately has been palpable. Can you feel it? With the holidays approaching, wrapping up 3 e-decors for clients, and family in and out (which I love, but feel like I'm constantly vacuuming for their arrival) it's been busy.

Do you follow me on instagram? You should, it's a good time. My name is @belladwella and that's where you can see the behind the scenes of this very blog you are reading.

I've added custom curtains to my list of services (which you can find here: Design Services). I just made my own, and a pair for a client, and it's incredible how much of a difference they can make in a room. They can make a window look larger, bring and tie colors together, and even soften a wall.

I highly recommend pink fuzzy pompom trim whenever possible.

And you KNOW a DIY post is coming. Just cause I charge for this ish doesn't mean I won't show you how. Cmooooon guys.

Dining Room e-decor

wanted to share this e-decor for a client.

She painted her walls this fabulous gray with major pink undertones. So what better to tie it together than more pink? She already has the black chintz above her windows, and the two knight rubbings (my husband did one of those - did I mention she's my mother in law?)

What I've been doing.

My latest ebay purchase, tassel trim, came for the family room curtains (I'm using the Thibault fabric I found at the thrift store for $22.) These floor length curtains will have cost me around $90 total by the time they're up.

I've DIYed myself a J.Crew side zipper sweater. That'll be on the blog tomorrow... cause it actually worked.

My best friend Molly turned me onto Against All Grain. It's an incredible paleo cookbook, and I've literally looked at it for a recipe or reference at least once a day since I've had it. And i'm not someone that looks at cookbooks, like, ever. So that's saying something. The author, Danielle, also has a blog. I found (stalked) her on pinterest as well and found her paleo stuffing (and if you're like me, you relentlessly think about stuffing starting Nov 1 every year).

We had a dog party.   wid3

I found this at the thrift store a few weeks ago and couldn't stop thinking about it. I went back and it was STILL there. So I bought it. It's going to go in the landing (that doesn't exist yet) of our new staircase (that doesn't exist yet) of our refinished upstairs (that also doesn't exist yet). BUT, exciting news, we had our "guy" come over to give us an estimate and listen to my crazy ideas, and he's going to start work next week. Yippie! wid2

I found this over at my friends' blog: Headbands and Bagels, and did it for myself.

Fun little 5 minute mental breaks are always welcome in belladwella land.

e-deckeratin'

I'd like to share this e-decor with y'all. It's for a client who wanted to bring more color into her otherwise beige bedroom. It's always a good idea to have a starting off point as she slowly incorporates more and MOREmoremore color into the room. I love color.

playroom pillows from Smarin Shop

Trevor and I are constantly brainstorming ideas for our upstairs (which is now gutted). I go back and fourth between wanting it to be our master bedroom and Lulu's playroom. These pillows are certainly helping the playroom angle.

Can you even imagine how much fun having these would be?

scenes from pinterest

I'm working with a client on her living room re-vamp, and couldn't help but share some of the inspiration images we're gathering because they're just so darn bootyful.

I want to DIY that rug so hard. And if you've ever thought about organizing your bookshelf by color: this is how you do that.

the rug and those periwinkle chairs kill me.
